Kim Tae-wan, who declared an early entry, was called by Ulsan Hyundai Mobis in the 5th place in the 1st round in the 2022 KBL Rookie Draft. His height is small, but his strength is his speed, and his shooting and reading are stable. He played his debut game on November 5 last year and scored his first point with a 3-pointer. Kim Tae-wan, who is currently on vacation, said, “I am resting well. I try to spend a lot of time with his family, and I even went to a Korea University game to cheer him on. He plans to train separately from May,” he said, revealing his current situation.
When asked about his first season as a pro, he said, “I felt that being a pro was very different from college. Since it was his first season, it was time to figure out what he lacked and what he could improve on. When I was in college, there were things that were overlooked even if I made a mistake, but as a professional, a single mistake completely takes away the atmosphere. It seems that if you make a mistake, you will see it better. Still, there are a lot of veteran hyungs, so they support me well. Thanks to that, he was able to hold on to his mentality more comfortably. Also, there are so many fans, and the stadium atmosphere is different.”
When Hyundai Mobis met Carrot, who had never won this season, in the 6th round, Kim Tae-wan exploded properly. He put in two 3-pointers, and rocked Carrot’s defense with a fast break. When asked if there was an interesting episode in the pro, “If I imitate Coach Yang’s vocal chords in front of the hyungs or Coach Yang (Dong-geun), they like it and say it’s the same. If you follow me, the coach laughs a lot.”
Before entering the professional league, Kim Tae-wan expressed his aspirations to be remembered as a stable and reliable player. When asked what level he is now with the target as a reference point, he said, “It seems to be even 60%. I don’t think he was bad in the playoffs. However, there are still many areas to be filled, so I want to make it 100%,” he said. “I plan to concentrate on weight training for the next season. As a guard, I made a lot of mistakes, but I want to focus on reducing this part as well.”
