“OK Financial Group has agreed to a one-for-one trade to receive outside hitter Song Hee-chae (31) from Woori Card in exchange for outside hitter Song Myung-geun (30),” the two clubs said on the 26th.
Song Hee-chae was a founding member of OK Financial Group and played five seasons with the team from 2013-2014 to 2017-2018. With her steady receiving, defence and offence, she helped OK Financial Group win back-to-back championships in 2015 and 2016. In the 2022-2023 season with Woori Card, she played in 31 games and 104 sets, ranking 10th in the league in receiving with a 36.42% receiving efficiency, and helped the team reach the postseason with her strengths in defence and receiving.
Another founding member, Song Myung-geun, played nine seasons with OK Financial Group until the 2022-2023 season, where he was named MVP of the 2015 Championship Finals. In the 2022-2023 season, after leaving the military, he played in 17 games and 53 sets, recording a 51.87 per cent attack success rate.
With this trade, OK Financial Group and Woori Card have filled a need in the team. OK Financial Group adds stability to their team with the addition of an experienced outside hitter. Woori Card will be looking to upgrade their offence with the addition of Song Myung-geun.
A spokesperson for both clubs said, “This is a trade that fills a gap in our team, and we expect it to help us rise in power next season. We would like to thank the departing players for their dedication and wish them well in their new teams.”
