One Taegeuk with 12,263 people in Gwanghwamun… Guinness record
Gwanghwamun Square was filled with 20,000 Taekwondo practitioners.
Kukkiwon, the Taehan Taekwondo Association, and the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation co-hosted the 2023 ‘National Flag’ Taekwondo One Mind Grand Festival around Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on the 25th.
On this day, about 20,000 Taekwondo practitioners, from children to the elderly in their 80s, participated in the Taekwondo One Mind Grand Festival.
The highlight of the Taekwondo One Mind Festival was the group demonstration of ‘Taegeuk 1’ by the participants. It was an event to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the passage of the National Assembly (2018) of a partial amendment to the Taekwondo Promotion and Taekwondo Park Creation Act (Taekwondo Act), which has Taekwondo as its national flag. At that time, Taekwondo was recognized as a national flag under the leadership of the current head of the Kukkiwon Lee Dong-seop, who was a member of the National Assembly in his 20s.
12,533 people challenged the group demonstration of ‘Taegeuk 1’, and 12,263 people succeeded. It set the record for the most demonstrations by the World Guinness Organization. The previous record was 8,212 people who demonstrated ‘Taegeuk 1’ as a group at the ‘Taekwondo Shout for Peace’ event held at the Lawn Square of the National Assembly in April 2018.
At the same time, around 10,000 Kukkiwon member dojang trainees also demonstrated ‘Taegeuk 1’ in their respective dojos overseas. During the Guinness record challenge, artist Lee Seong-geun drew a Taekwondo picture on stage. 토토사이트

Fundraising was also conducted for the relocation and establishment of Kukkiwon.
Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-seop, World Taekwondo Federation (WT) President Cho Jung-won, Asia Taekwondo Federation President Lee Kyu-seok, Taekwondo Taekwondo Association President Yang Jin-bang, and Taekwondo Promotion Foundation Chairman Oh Eung-hwan attended. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon also received an honorary 8th dan certificate.
Kukkiwon Director Lee Dong-seop said, “You will be able to feel the proud Korea and great Taekwondo.” I hope it will be an unforgettable time to become one.”
