The new ice queen, Kim Min-seon (24, Uijeongbu City Hall) runs without hesitation. This season she has won all of the 500m events she has competed both domestically and internationally.

Kim Min-seon won the 500m women’s general section of the 104th National Winter Sports Festival held at the Taereung International Ice Rink in Seoul on the 27th with a record of 37.90 seconds. She beat second place Kim Hyun-young (Seongnam City Hall, 38 seconds 97) with a large gap of more than one second and won her gold medal around her neck.

The time of 37 seconds and 90 recorded by Kim Min-seon that day is a new record for her competition. Her previous record is 38.10, achieved by Lee Sang-hwa at the 97th event in 2016. Kim Min-seon beat her event’s best by 0.20 seconds this time.

With the start of the 2022-23 season, Kim Min-sun has emerged as a speed skating 500m empress. She never came down from the top.  안전놀이터

Kim Min-sun won all of the women’s 500m events in the first to fourth competitions of the International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup held from November last year. She won gold medals at the Four Continents Championships, held in early December last year, and the 31st Winter World University Games (Winter Universiade), which recently concluded in Lake Placid, New York, USA. On the 27th, she won all seven 500m events she competed in this season, including the National Winter Athletics Championships.

Kim Min-sun is currently ranked number one in the women’s 500m world rankings. Min-Seon Kim, who made her first World Cup podium last year when she took the bronze medal in the women’s 500m World Cup Final, took her first world championship this season, and she continues to hold that position.

The record pace is also great. In early December she set a record track record of 38.141 in the women’s 500 m at the ISU Four Continents Championships in Quebec, Canada. On October 13 of the same year she surpassed 38.42 written by Carolina Hiller. In her 4th World Cup event she recorded her personal best of 96 in 36 seconds.

After her retirement, Kim Min-seon was considered as the next-generation runner to lead Korean women’s ice skating. In December 2017, she broke the junior world record held by Lee Sang-hwa in the women’s 500 m at the 4th World Cup, and has not been able to stand out in international competitions for a while.
