‘Even Kim Se Young’ crashes out of all-Korean round of 16 match

All eight South Korean players failed to reach the last 16 of the Bank of Hope (BOH) Match Play on the US Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour as even their last hope, Kim Se-young (30), drew with Cheyenne Knight (USA).

Kim, who was seeded 13th, drew with Knight on the final hole in the third round of the group stage at Shadowcreek Golf Club (par-72) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on Sunday (27 July), allowing Knight, who holds a 2-1 head-to-head record, to advance to the last 16.스포츠토토

Defending champion Ji-Hee Lee (37) finished the day 1-2 after losing to world No. 197 Maddie Jurick (Canada) by one hole (2&1) to Lynn Grant (Sweden). Grant advanced to the round of 16.

Six players reached the round of 16 with three consecutive wins. Starting with Albani Venezuela (SUI) in the first round, Celine Boutier (FRA) in the third, Ayaka Furue (JPN) in the sixth and Leona Maguire (IRL) in the seventh punched their tickets early with a 5&3 win over Annalynn (27). Marja Stark (Sweden) in flight 11 and Carolta Zimada (Spain) in flight 12 also won all three of their matches.

Grant and Knight were among seven players to advance without a loss with a 2-1 record. Sophia Schubert (USA) booked her place in the round of 16 with a 4&3 win over Ye Eun Hong in the second round. Daniela Dacqua (Ecuador) defeated Lucy Lee (USA) in straight sets in the ninth round.

Angel Yin (USA) defeated inaugural event winner Ellie Ewing (USA) in Pool 14, while in Pool 15 Hae-Ran Hae (22) won 2&1 but Lindsay Weaver Wright (USA) edged ahead on points with a 2&1 draw. In Group 16, Anna Norquist (SWE) also booked her place in the weekend’s action after drawing with Andrea Lee (USA).

Perrine Delacour (FRA) won two and drew one in Group 10 and Alison Lee (USA) won one and drew two in Group 5 to finish at the top of their groups and advance to the weekend. In Group 4, Fazari Anananarukarn (THA) was the last player to join the round of 16 after she tied with Caris Davidson (AUS) at 2-1 before winning in extra time.

Played in the LPGA’s only match-play format, the 64-player field is divided into 16 groups, with only the top players in each group advancing to the round of 16 to play for the title. The round of 16 and subsequent quarter-finals will be broadcast live on JTBC Golf from 6.15am on the 28th.
