Complete transformation from bullpen to starter… TB, 4-year extension contract with Springs ‘even the players are surprised!’
The Tampa Bay Rays have signed a four-year contract extension with left-handed starter Jeffrey Springs.
Tampa Bay said on the official website on the 26th (Korean time), “The club signed a 4-year, $31 million extension contract with the Springs. The deal includes a club option for 2027.” The club also made fans laugh by posting several videos of wire springs through social media.
Springs made his debut with the Texas Rangers in 2018 and was traded to Tampa Bay in the 2021 season via the Boston Red Sox. He had mainly pitched as a bullpen pitcher before, but made a surprise transformation as a starting pitcher last year.
After that, he continued his good form, recording 9 wins, 5 losses, 2.46 ERA, and 144 strikeouts, becoming an axis of team selection. Springs will become a free agent after the 2024 season, but Tampa Bay got him on the team early.
“It’s a huge feeling,” Springs said in an interview after his signing. Even though he signed a contract, it’s hard to believe. He said, “Thank you to the club.” 먹튀검증
“The club helped me a lot, and I am really happy. It’s a special team for me, and I’m very happy to be in this position and to be able to stand in the future.”
“The Springs have been making the most of their opportunities for a long time, and we never questioned their ability,” said Tampa Bay President Eric Niander. I want it to continue to develop,” he said.
Tampa Bay, who signed with the Springs, will form the starting lineup for the 2023 season with Shane McClanahan, Tyler Glasnow, Zack Eflin, Drew Rasmussen, Yoni Chirinos, and Luis Patino.
