Ji-Man Choi (Pittsburgh Pirates) hits a home run against Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels).

Choi went 1-for-4 with a home run, one RBI, one run scored, one run batted in, and one strikeout as the Pittsburgh Pirates batted fourth in the lineup against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) Baseball World Series at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California on April 22 (ET).

In his first at-bat against Ohtani, he flied out to center field, but showed off his power in his second at-bat.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, Choi took advantage of a high cutter (87.6 mph) from Ohtani on a 1B2S pitch and launched a solo home run over the right field fence. It was his fifth home run of the season in five games since May 15 against San Francisco. It traveled 122 meters and hit at 171.7 mph.

Prior to the game, Choi had gone 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against Ohtani, but he got his first hit with the blast.

In the top of the fifth, his last at-bat against Ohtani, he hit a low splitter on an unfavorable pitch count (2S) but was thrown out on an infield grounder. In his final at-bat in the top of the eighth inning after Ohtani went down, he struck out looking.

With his fifth home run of the season, Choi raised his batting average to .186. Since returning from injury on Aug. 8, Choi has shown off his power with three home runs in nine games, including today’s blast.바카라

Los Angeles Angels starter Ohtani wasn’t great, giving up five runs on six hits and two homers with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings, but he got support from his offense to pick up his eighth win of the season.
