He holds the club record for most games played by a goalkeeper and most clean sheets (94). In 2009, he was named to the K League Best 11. He is third on the club’s all-time list for most appearances.
Hwang Ji-soo was a “one-club man” synonymous with steadiness and integrity. In his 14-year career from 2004 to 2017, he scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 320 K League games. He was nicknamed “Pohang’s Gattuso” for his gritty play and ranks second on the club’s all-time appearances list. Since retiring, he has been working as the head coach of the Pohang U-18 team.
In 2013, the Pohang Steelers Hall of Fame inducted the late Park Tae-joon, Chairman Emeritus of POSCO, in the Contributors category, and the late Han Hong-ki, the first head coach, and Lee Hoe-taek in the Leaders category.
