’13 RBI’ SSG defeats ’14 RBI’ Doosan to stay on top…Doosan loses third straight game
The SSG Landers continued their winning streak and retained their top spot.
SSG won the sixth game of the season against the Doosan Bears 3-1 on April 21 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. It was their second straight win. SSG maintained its sole possession of first place, which it regained the day before, and improved its head-to-head record against Doosan to 5-1. Doosan, on the other hand, has lost three straight games.
With Oh Won-seok starting for SSG and Choi Won-jun for Doosan, the early going was frustrating for both teams.
SSG struck first with a triple by Choi Ji-hoon in the top of the first inning, but the center field was silent, and Doosan had the bases loaded in the bottom of the first with a single and a walk, followed by a single by Kang Seung-ho with two outs. However, with two outs, Park Kye-beom was caught flying out to left field after a 10-pitch battle.
Doosan also had a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the third inning when Kim Jae-hwan stole second base, but there were no hits, and SSG was unable to capitalize. In the top of the fifth inning, leadoff hitter Choi Ji-hoon doubled but was unable to follow up. Doosan was again held scoreless in the bottom of the fifth when Lee Yoo-chan was caught on a foul fly by the third baseman with runners on first and second.먹튀검증

With the score tied at 0-0, SSG finally took the lead in the top of the fifth inning. It started with a leadoff single by Choi Jun-woo. Kim Min-sik laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second. Choi Sang-min struck out swinging, but Choo Shin-soo drew a walk to load the bases. With runners on first and second, Choi Ji-hoon, who had been hitting well on the day, came to the plate. Facing Choi Won-joon, Choi hit a timely double to the right side of the infield. Choi Jun-woo, who was on second base, rounded third and came home. SSG took a 1-0 lead.
Doosan had a chance to respond in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Park Kye-beom’s hit was caught on a grounder to second base with two outs to tie the game.
SSG scored one more run in the top of the sixth inning. Back-to-back singles by Eredia and Park Sung-ho put runners on first and third. Kang Jin-sung grounded out in front of the third baseman, allowing Heredia to be tagged out between third and home. Runners on second and third. Choi Jun-woo singled to right field against reliever Chung Chul-won. SSG tacked on another run when Park Sung-hyun, the second baseman, was safe at home after being tagged out by catcher Yang Yang-ji. The Doosan bench requested a video replay, but the result was not changed.

With SSG leading 2-0, Doosan’s offense continued to struggle. In the bottom of the sixth inning, they shook the SSG bullpen and had the bases loaded, but Yang Suk-hwan struck out swinging. SSG couldn’t get any closer in the top of the seventh, as pinch-hitter Choi Ju-hwan struck out swinging.

With a two-run lead, SSG went into the bullpen. Noh Kyung-eun and Lee Yi-roon shut down the bottom half of the game, and the wedge hit in the top of the ninth. With one out, Choi Jung-hwa doubled, followed by Heredia’s RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the ninth, Seo Jin-yong came on to close out the game. With no outs in the bottom of the ninth, Seo gave up back-to-back singles to Jung Soo-bin and Kim Jae-hwan. He was unable to get a strike. With the bases loaded, Seo struck out Yang Seok-hwan and Yang Ji with consecutive swinging strikes. However, he gave up a single to Kang Seung-ho with runners on first and second.
The crisis continued with runners on second and third. Seo Jin-yong tied the knot the hard way by striking out the final batter, Park Kye-beom. He earned his 22nd save of the season.
